Interactive StoryCordova | Android | NFC | JS | SqLite
A mobile application that lets students read stories interactively.
For the course Software Project of the Ubiquitous Computing Master's program of the University of Oulu we had to develop a project for a real company. The company was Things Around Oy and the project was done by a group of 5 students. The Cordova platform was used to have a multiplatform mobile application (Android, iOS, Windows Phone). This was a struggle since finding the appropriate plugins to access native functionality is not that straight forward. |

First an interactive story reader was developed which is supposed to be used by children. In this application they can read a story, chapter by chapter, and in the end of each chapter there is an interaction they have to accomplish to read the next chapter. The possible interactions are location (GPS, move to a place), QR code (Read a specific QR code), NFC tag (Read a specific NFC Tag), Spell check (Spell a word properly), Quiz (One multiple choice question).
Then we developed the interactive story editor which was only for Android tablets. In this one, the users can create a complete story to be read in the interactive story editor.
When the story is finished, they are sent to a server and then can be downloaded from the reader.
